That's the beauty of both of these 'serial killer' flicks. Neither of them actually feature serial killers. More along the line of 'in-th-moment' multiple murderers. I think the lack of planning or method in both cases is kinda significant, and is what distinguishes these from a lot of other Serial Killer Movies.
Good show. I have a lot I could write, but I'll try to keep it short.
Per NATURAL BORN KILLERS, it's interesting to go back and read Tarantino's original script. It's easy to find online. Many of the scenes are exactly the same in the script and the movie; however, the tone of those scenes are wildly different. The script is more in the vein of a drive in, grindhouse type of movie, no real message or moral to the story; Stone's movie is obviously different.
It's also interesting how the script came about. If I remember correctly, Avery wrote a screenplay that he gave to Taratino to tinker with, and Taratino re-wrote it as a 500 page handwritten behemoth. That script essentially had both NATURAL BORN KILLERS and TRUE ROMANCE as the same movie. I think NBK was a movie Clarence was writing or something to that effect.
Also, one of the producer's, Jane Hamsher, wrote a book about the making of the movie called "Killer Instint". It's a pretty interesting read. The making of the movie seems to have been as chaotic as the finished movie.
Jay, I can't remember where I read or heard about this, but I remember hearing that Richardson at first didn't want to do this movie but finally agreed on the condition that he could really go crazy with it: the different stocks, film gauges and all the other experimentation they did in the movie.
Eric Bana was pretty famous in Australia for his aussie larrikin character "Peter" in a comedy skit show "Full Frontal".

Apparently Mark Chopper Reed had seen his skits and thought he would be the perfect choice to play him.
Oops, we have fallen behind on recording the next episode which will have to wait until after the Toronto International Film Festival. So probably some time just before October.
